Planning and Preparing
The first step for installing a pool involves creating a plan for the size, shape and placement of the structure. Once the proper permits are in hand, contractors will mark out the pool shape on the ground and begin the excavation process. Building Strength and Adding Plumbing
Once the excavation is complete, contractors will lay rebar around the entire interior of the pool to add strength and durability to the concrete to come. At this time, plumbing will also be installed by placing underground pipes and attaching the necessary pool equipment. The pipes will need to be kept under constant pressure during the construction process to ensure that no leaks develop. Electrical wiring will also be added before the concrete is poured or sprayed.
Building the Pool’s Interior
Now that the infrastructure is completely in place, it is time to spray concrete onto walls and floor. The popular mixture for this purpose is gunite, which is a mixture of sand and concrete for a stronger interior for your pool. A team of workers will spray the gunite onto the walls and floor, working from the top down. The gunite will be smoothed and shaped as it is sprayed to create a smooth surface to the pool’s interior. Once the gunite has dried sufficiently, tile and coping are added to give the pool a nice effect.
Filling and Enjoying
Once the interior is completed, decking will be added around the outside of the deck. This can be constructed of concrete, tile, stone or exposed aggregate, depending on the homeowner’s preference. The very last step involves adding water to the basin so you and your guests can enjoy it to the fullest. Of course, regular maintenance will be required to keep your pool in top condition.
The construction of a pool requires major equipment, lots of time and a certain amount of mess.
